Knowledge – Import data in Excel

This article is about the text-based file formats (.csv or .txt example) to import correctly in Excel. It is often so that stored data sets are present as a continuous text or by paragraphs separated.

With direct open with Excel will then incorrectly implemented by the software.

The result is that, although the data are available in Excel, but can not be used for an evaluation. In the following we describe how to go about it and what to look for.

The formatting is the core of the data import. This determines how the records are divided. We recommend the data using “Separated” to formatieren.Excel Import Columns

The advantage is that you can decide for yourself which provide indication that the records are separated. In the lower part of the window, you can then also check Set whether the data wurden.Spalten separately to your wishes when importing


Last, it is possible to format the column with a data type. An example is the column in which the date is stated. You may click and select the right date format. This is normally not necessary. Should also be kept in mind.

Finally, press the “Finish” button. The format is complete and you can start the data, for example, use for evaluation.
